Reach for the Stars
Returning to School 50 Years Later
It’s never too late. It’s never too late, I chanted to myself as I pushed open the intimidating glass door to the college.
It had been over 50 years since I’d been in a classroom. I was terrified.
The young people all around me were hurrying to their first class. Did I know where I was going? I squinted at the map of the campus that I carried with me. I didn’t want to be the last one in class. Especially since I was going to stick out like a sore thumb anyway.
Did I know what I was doing? I wasn’t sure. All I knew was that this was something I wanted to do ever since I graduated from high school. I wanted to get my college degree.
